It’s a recap issue. Last few days internet was very bad..
Back in France and oh the French drivers… after Austria and Germany where there seems to be a high degree of compliance – like the speed limit changes and everyone seemingly automatically slows down; France seems pretty much undisciplined by comparison.
Nuits-St George’s

The town hall

Nice weather and pedestrian area (mostly) in the centre of the old town.

The church with tiled roof on the spire.
We have noticed that there is a certain amount of “Gushing” on the part of various commentators and travel writers on the area. In fact this is really a farming area and it has grown complex and quite crowded. The town of Nuits-St George’s has some nice features but overall a busy, noisy, dirty road runs through the middle of town and development has been a hodgepodge of uses and functions. So not really such a tourist heaven in that part.
BUT.. that’s not why we came here is it?
This is why we came:

Ah it’s Burgundy

The Chateau du Clos du Vougeot and a few vines

Pinot Noir and given the nice weather – ripening nicely for the vendage.
Nuits-Saint-Georges to Amboise took from 9:30am until 6pm because we decided to take the road less travelled and view the countryside. A worthy drive across a lot of great scenic routes but tired by the end of the day

Chateau Chaumont-Sur-Loire lots of history, well maintained and very photogenic

A visit to the Amboise Sunday market produces lunch.

Troglodyte houses cut into the sandstone cliff in Amboise – there are quite a few of them. One you can book on Airbnb.

But it’s really all about the wine!
I think if you stretch the picture you can make out the dates and vintages..
A part of France we have not visited…..looks like it needs to go on the bucket list!
thanks for all the posts…..very interesting.
