Good bye to Uzes a fine town and a great place to visit. We stayed in a charming second floor apartment via Airbnb our hosts Elizabeth and Phillipe are cordial people and made us feel quite at home.
The apartment has a good view of the Duchy (above) from the front windows and another good view of the surrounding countryside from the back windows. The decorations include a collection of interesting lamps.
The last one is a collection of globes which slowly change colour.
Parking in Uzes is a creative affair. The rule seems to be – if I can get the vehicle there it must be a parking space! I don’t want to single out Uzes because we have seen many examples of interesting parking in our travels. One person in particular drew our attention and we thought it worthy of note.

This “person” parked the Benz on the sidewalk right in front of the crosswalk forcing all the pedestrians to walk in the traffic and blocking the crosswalk. The car was there all day!
There was a large arts and crafts market in the square. Lots of fine work and creative hands.
Did I mention Marg wants new shoes.

Zowie!
Its time for the two wheel review section. Bikes and scooters are everywhere. Amazing how many Harleys on display.

Plus many others shapes, sizes and kinds.
Some creative parking here too. Like the older gentleman on the step-through who pulled up to one of the bars on the square for his afternoon beer – pulled the bike right into the restaurant – had his beer(s) and then went on his way.
Ah yes – baked goods.

Your baked goods – du jour!
We have now arrived in St Peys de Castet near St Emillion in the Dordogne where, it is alternating tempest like rain and wind with short bursts of sun.
And finally a word from our sponsor:
A demain – M&M.
You haven’t mentioned whether the restaurants are expensive. Can tourists of normal means afford to eat out?

Absolutely – I presume you mean tourists of reasonable means with three hungry sons to feed?
Germany, Austria and most of all Switzerland are more expensive but Italy and France can be quite affordable. There is a wide choice of places and prices.
In France ask for the “Plat du Jour” or “menu du jour” which will likely be in the range of 13 – 25 Euros per mouth depending on the menu and the “ambience”. We just had a very nice meal with two menu du jour, 1/2 litre of wine, two coffees and tip for 58 Euro in St Emillion which is a bit expensive due to tourists. Overall just think Euro = Dollar and it won’t be a shock.
And don’t forget – if you want a restaurant lunch over here it will be between 12 noon and 2pm or you will be waiting for dinner time. There are a few fast food places but really you are in Europe and it would be a crime….
