It seems like someone here has offended the weather gods. It never stops raining and being overcast.
Lucerne from Weggis via lake boat. A great way to travel, someone else is navigating no traffic and parking is easy. The trip takes about 40 minutes while you imagine what the scenery would be like if you could see it!

The boat lands right at the docks behind the train station which is the transport hub. You can find another boat or a bus, streetcar or train. We walked over to the historic centre of the old town to see the covered bridge.

The current bridge is a new one to replace the old which was accidently burned down in 1993. A tradition has developed that people sign the bridge even though the signs say not to.

When Marg was here a “few” years ago she stayed in a deluxe hotel and we found it still doing well although likely a bit more expensive than then.

After a local lunch of fish and potatoes – it being Friday, we walked some more before heading back.

Very unassuming premises and a simple sign.

In the section of town where the mills used to be there is considerable power in the river. The city has turned the old mill site into a power plant with this fountain. The higher the fountain the more power is being generated. We stopped to look at the water in the tail race from the turbines. There is lots of fast water in the river due to all the rain.
Lots of shopping and many stores selling watches and jewellery.

Plus confectionary

Tomorrow on to Lake Como. M&M.
Seems to be raining all through Europe according to the news here…I can’t believe we actually stayed in such a posh place all those years ago!
